I have seen some professional musicians using their G7 capo on the neck of their instruments in what I'll call the UP position, i.e. the open end of the capo is facing upwards. I was used to placing mine over the neck pointing DOWN and thought that if it came loose then at least it wouldn't fall straight to the floor. This is the method shown on the G7 website. Having now tried both I'm unsure of which is best. Can anyone give any reasons why the UP orientation might be better? Though I'm asking about the G7 capo I suppose some of the reasoning might apply to other capos as well.
