I also bought one of the early versions and its use was demonstrated to me by the person who invented/designed it. Whether you are an "uppie" or a "downie" is, I think, purely a matter of personal preference. Although mine has never fallen to bits there were problems with the little plastic lever on the originals which tended to snap off if the capo was dropped. Indeed this happened to mine and the manufacturer replaced it without question.
