"If you are using MIDI with Win7, what's the brand name of your sound card?" Any one that works at all will do. Laptops normally do not have real sound "cards" at all, still they can do everything you want - the MIDI sounds are produced using the main board and processor (the drawback being a slight delay, harmful only in interactive contexts such as using the MidiCond software or similar). Does your new computer work OK now?
