When I come across a weak verse like that in the OP, I change it. "Oh faither dear ye've seven sons Ye may wed them all tomorrow For the fairest flower amang them all Was the lad that I lo'ed on Yarrow." my version: Oh father dear ye've seven sons; Ye may wed them all tomorrow. BUT the fairest flower among them all Was the lad that I LOST on Yarrow.
