I don't go to many folk clubs that are upstairs unless i'm booked there. my wife and I like going places together and she's been disabled for years, she used to struggle with the stairs, bur now its too much. its a pity cos many of the old folk clubs in the golden age were up stairs in pubs - many fine folk clubs   - the old crown in digbeth Birmingham, the jug of punch, the three barrels at ampersand, the co-op club in Nottingham....and so on...

my favourite club was the Vernon Arms in Derby...wall to wall friends!
