Louis did several versions of "West End Blues" - which is famous for its fierce opening line - with his Hot Five, King Oliver, etc. But all the versions of it that I know are slow and dreamy, almost languid. There's also a long-held trumpet note in the middle/end of the piece, but I don't know of any fast version of this. |
