I saw him at the Santa Monica Civic when Pleasures of the Harbor was just out. As I can remember he sang the whole album and not much else. That was fine because those songs sounded a lot better in an acoustic setting than with the heavy-handed production of the album. Especially Flower Lady, Pleasures and Crucifixion. I also saw him in 1970 at the Troubadour on the Sunset Strip when he was in the gold lame phase. Lincoln Mayorga was with him but he sat down at the piano for Jim Dean. He introduced the song by saying "Don't worry, I can't play this either." God, I loved his music. I still play When in Rome at least once a week and often multiple times.
