Nigel Paterson Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort (6596* d) RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort 03 Jul 14

Being aware of the 'In Memoriam' thread & not wishing to tread on anyone's toes & with some hesitation:
"Please lay a place at the table for Ian H., composer, arranger, conductor, song-writing partner & dearest friend. Ian & I worked together on many music projects, large & small. He was a fine pianist, but often consulted me about guitar matters. Ian composed for Film & TV in Europe & the UK, but the big Hollywood break, tantalisingly close on several occasions, never actually came to fruition. I miss his friendship; I miss the endless discussions about the finer points of arranging & orchestration. I miss the unfailing encouragement he gave me when I was struggling with my own writing. His premature death, some nine years ago, leaves an unfillable void. I loved him very much".

All of us will have had one of those special people in our lives: Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Friend, Teacher, Work Colleague, someone we've never actually met but by whom we have been profoundly touched. It's a lengthy list of possibilities.

Please say if you think "Please lay a place" is a daft idea...unnecessary...not wanted on voyage etc., etc.. With Spaw, Kat & Jane very fresh in my mind, I remembered earlier times & felt a need to write a few words about other individuals who have played an important part in my life. A personal means of expression...your comments/contributions are valued & invited.
                               With Love,
                                              Nigel
