# (whatever that means) questions whether we are civilised in The UK. The answer is yes, thanks for asking. Mind you, keep selling us those documentaries about life in US. Some people, lap them up. They are up there with world's fattest guinea pigs or whatever Channel 5 show these days. The journalist and news anchorman Trevor McDonald did a disturbing documentary about capital punishment in The USA last year. Truly shocking. We watch it to feel smug perhaps. But we also watch it in the same way as history programmes that show us how we have come on over the last hundred years. Keep banging those rocks together eh?
