There were countless makers around 1890s - 1920s...many of then in Saxony...sold all over Europe, including England, Scotland and Ireland I have a large collection of early melodeons and many of them were very cheap and simple in the first place. But I have also picked up some rarities amongs the crap...a beauty from the Ludwig brothers, looks like a piano accordion, but notes are alternate black - white all way up, it's actually a C- C# melodeon, and has a tremelo key on the back. Good place to get them is Ebay...many under 20 quid.
