Agree with most of the above points 1) a true parody should match the rhymes in the original song 2) it DOES 'cheapen' the original to a certain degree 3) parodising has spoiled one or two of my favourite songs 3) parodies are not lazy writing, It's more like taking a cheap shot 4) I'm a 'parodist' myself so I'm guilty of all associated crimes, m'lud 5) you must admit that some parodies out there ar REALLY funny 6) IMO, bottom line: all's fair in love and war - and parody writing "Li'l old rhyme thinker me" ;-)
