I consider THE EENSIE-WEENSIE SPIDER to be a parody of a genre.... that of overly-sentimental, 'inspirational' songs which move into the "Oh No, Not Again!" category for many..... such as "Kilkelly, Ireland" and "Danny Boy" and "Fields of Athenry"..... and using "Mary Ellen Carter" as a vehicle. Like 'folk', it is a 'herding cats' problem to pin it to a simple definition.
