Why would it be me? Because I've been disagreeing with you on this thread? I'm sure you can find sentimentality and radical politics in traditional songs if you look, but you'll find an awful lot of songs devoid of either - which is more than you could say of the contemporary folk repertoire. As Peter Bellamy said, for every song saying "we're the workers and we're miserable and oppressed" there are ten that say "we're the workers and we're having a fine old time".
