Unable to attend the funeral today, but great memories of Ron. His directions to find the 'Sun' were simple- just find the 'Northern Goldsmiths' and you're there! I've done the 'Sun' several times on my own, but in more distant times, I recall the ceili nights we did as the Marsden Rattlers for Ron & the lads we did at the Kirklevington Country Club on several Friday nights in the mid/late sixties.
Memorable nights these with Ron to the fore, and great fun- we didn't know much about ceili/folk dancing but the folks certainly enjoyed themselves at those nights- our fiddler was a devout RC & used t look on longingly at us all scoffing the excellent burgers until a minute past midnight, when he joined in!
