"My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean" is a traditional Scottish folk song which remains popular in Western culture. It is often suggested that the subject of the song may be Charles Edward Stuart ('Bonnie Prince Charlie'). In 1881, under the duo of pseudonyms H.J. Fulmer and J.T. Wood, Charles E. Pratt published sheet music for "Bring Back My Bonnie to Me". Whilst The Beatles were playing in Hamburg, producer Bert Kaempfert used them as Tony Sheridan's backing band on a series of recordings. "My Bonnie", credited to "Tony Sheridan & the Beat Brothers", was recorded in June 1961 and released four months later. It reached number 32 on the Musikmarkt chart. (Source; Wikipedia)
