Every year my friends to the North and East start manifesting signs of low-grade subclinical insanity, posting thermometer readings and a lot of blather about some imaginary visitation from above they call "snow". This epidemic of hivernal madness seems to affect their smartphones and cameras as well, throwing the white-balance chip all to hell. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why. Sunspots, mayhap? It was a lovely day in Los Angeles today and Barky and I went around having father-and-son time to our hearts' content. I walked the dog tonight, wearing a light jacket to accommodate the coolness of November evenings, but the skies were clear and the evenings winds were balmy. A
