One could make a case for saying that "The Uttoxeter Souling Song" is actually a Derbyshire song. The text was noted in a long forgotten Derbyshire newspaper from 1875 with the comment that 'the correspondent, Mr. Redfern, remembers hearing it sung on his uncle's farm at Doveridge in the 1830s.' Doveridge is in Derbyshire...... I have a very vague memory of Frank Sutton singing "The Drunken Butcher of Tideswell" at the Druids club in Derby. Gerald Short must be getting on a bit!
