Thanksgiving is essentially a harvest festival. Folks around the world, and particularly in temperate and cold climates have celebrations, nearly always involving food and feasting associated with the time of year when the last crops and stores are put up to feed folks through the cold and barren months of winter and early spring.

Holiday celebrations have whatever meaning we choose to make of them. I was blissfully happy last evening to have my son and two good friends gathered around my table.

leenia, went very well. I messed up on the pumpkin pie rather badly, but Rodi brought her spectacularly scrumptious pecan pie, so the dessert course was still a resounding success! The conversation was lively, sometimes brilliant. That is largely due to Mudcat, and later the Getaway, where I first connected with these friends on-line and who have since moved to this area.
