Now don't you go badmouthin' Chevettes, Bobert.

My one and only Chevette, bought for a mere $1500 that ran real good the first 4 days until it threw the timing chain, (or was that timing belt, old memories fade) and left me high and dry on the side of a country road in the days before cell phones. OK, so let's say it cost me $2000 instead. Ran fine even if the radio and the speedometer didn't work for another 20,000 miles until the strut busted through a rusty front wheel well. And I never would have figured out what that loud clunking noise was coming from the frontend if that hadn't had happened! Maybe if I had undercoated the thing with Chongo Chimp poo it would not have rusted out so quick, eh?

Hey Chongo, I only paid $50 to have it towed to the junkyard to give away, back in 1993. I bet it is still sitting there, a nice, dull, pinto mix of red paint and rust red. For probably less than $100 you could buy it back, cut the top off, if it hasn't rusted off, haul it up on a AAA/Adams Wrecker/Tow Service truck, and use it for your convertible in the inaugural parade. Only if I get to sit behind the steering wheel and wear a big hat to wave at the crowd, though. After all, the title is still in my name!
