But are they the person who has made the most news, which is supposed to be the single criterion? Not according to Time magazine. The criterion is: The criterion is "the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year." This is not the most prominent news story, but that which had the greatest effect on the world. I'm in no position to argue whether their choice was right or wrong, but let's accept that it is Time magazine which sets the ground rules, and take any discussion from there. Cheers Nigel
