I meant to add the following to my little diatribe above. Suppose, just for a minute, that a classical orchestra made a recording of, say, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, and neglected to mention the composer, saying instead said they learned it from a manuscript or from some other orchestra. Imagine the invective that would result. Can't see a whole heap of difference between that and revival singers not crediting source singers.
