I was there in 72 73 & 74 ..(I think ) we were the kids from Connecticut and were just down hill from the tent near the trees... We can early and helped with set up .It was the best way to meet locals ... I played mostly clawhammer.. George Pegram was a blast .. Our local banjo player Roger Sprung won (I think 73) .. As it got bigger we stopped coming but if you played you got your $10..00 back .. We played to 40,000 people the last year if I remember right ... I wasny there for the sign up and when they called us up the PA blasted out will you welcome "Clay Wolff and His Ugly Mugs" We played Hickery Wind . When I sang" Down South Carolina" half the crowd stud up screaming ... Crazy crazy moment ..
