I checked Amazon, and found I bought my Zoom H2 recorder for about $160 early in 2009. I am still very happy with it, 6 years later. I just recently tried hooking the external input to my computer's headphone jack, and found that it makes good recordings of anything I can play on my computer.
The newer H1 and H2n recorders look really cool and appear to have controls that are easier to operate, but I guess I can't justify replacing my H2 because it still works so well. The little cover over the SD card is broken, but I guess that's not a valid excuse for buying a new recorder.
