Realize the situations are probably different in many ways, but as the cancer spread in my Dad's brain and his ability to communicate and our ability to comprehend what he was communicating diminished, (and the morphine was upped to produce a coma-like state, it was still clear that the music mattered and that he knew and cherished and was comforted. Not only that, but took joy in it.
