When I go into a shop to buy a pint of milk I am not setting out to force the chap to hand over the milk. I am intending (if I think about it at all) to be an equal participant in a hopefully amicable transaction. We have no reason to think that the chap who commissioned the cake was being any different. Had I described the shop's refusal to supply the cake as an attempt to force the customer to go elsewhere for his cake you would, quite rightly, have picked me up for it.
