Lancaster has a couple of weekly sessions at the Gregson, about a hundred yards up the hill from Moor Lane Bridge (No 102). Mooring by the Waterwitch pub in the town centre, or further north near Moor Lane.

Tuesday Irish session in the bar, starts about 9.00pm - great musicians, quite fast!

Thursday session upstairs in the Olive bar also about 9.00pm - very varied instruments, very varied repertoire from local Wyresdale tunes from the Winder family manuscripts to wider European tunes and more.

Both mainly tune sessions, but appropriate song contributions usually welcomed

The Lancaster Canal was initially separate from the rest of the waterways system, but the addition of the Ribble Link https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/canals-and-rivers/ribble-link
allows access from the Leeds and Liverpool Rufford branch (short river transit up the Ribble - tidal!).

At the south end of the canal. Preston has a mixed music and song session every Friday at the New Welcome Inn, 15 Cambridge Walk, PR1 7TH http://preston-lancashire.cylex-uk.co.uk/company/the-new-welcome-inn-16503129.html , about a mile from the terminal basin (north-east up Aqueduct Street, then left into Cambridge Walk). Always a great night, excellent singers and musicians among the resident crew, and usually supplemented by visitors from further afield.

Ross
