We ought to be using more cannabis - no not the smoking kind, the sort Du Pont got outlawed in the USA. Hemp, Cannabis sativa. It is a really useful plant for so many things - plus it doesn't need a lot of looking after or spraying and the water consumption is way lower than for growing cotton. It used to be used for clothing, sails, food, paper, a huge list. It is beneficial to the ecology, and would be good for the economy - but maybe not for those in the oil business.
