A few recent reviews on Beyond the Cascade:

This book should be on the best seller list and probably would be if it had a publisher working the hype. Great read!!!

This book is wonderful! It's an adventure in the mode of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" while at the same time being a philosophical statement by the author. The style is exciting and the development of the story and characters is perfect. The highest recommendation to Jessup for this tour de force. Thanks for an exciting reading experience.

Beautifully written, binding the reader along the writer's and characters' journeys toward universal secrets about elemental forces like nature, self, thought, time, war, reality/untruth, grief, love, life, will, and transcendence. Tantalizingly ambitious, full of layered meaning you will only catch through repeated readings, this is a page-turner -- it hooks the reader along on its journey and sweeps one away in the plays of light on the path through use of language. The use of language is multi-dimensional, and not to be missed. A. H. Jessup has crafted a brilliantly complex allegory which connotes simplicity, turning layered rock into layered meanings that flow like water, until the reader flows along too.

If you haven't read it yet, what are you waiting for? :D
