Had a Seiko automatic for 32 years, never more than a minute a day out. It had a period when I had a Kinetic one as well, since that was waterproof; kept both going until the Kinetic died and was unrepairable. Got a Citizen EcoDrive one in parallel with the auto until that died. They charge from the sun but do have a battery and when that goes, after about ten years, the watch is dead. Sent the Seiko to be cleaned, it keeps better time now and bought another Seiko automatic which is waterproof, so I can swim in it etc. However, for a budget of $30, I'd suggest a cheapo battery watch for a fiver and replace the whole thing (or give it away) every three years, before the battery goes!
