The Sandman Shirley Collins - 80th Concert (48) RE: Shirley Collins - 80th Concert 09 Jul 15

Good to hear that Shirley did actually sing over the weekend.
if someone has not enjoyed a concert surely they are entitled to say so without being called names, neither is it fair to dismiss this forum as moaning mudcat, on the strength of one criticism of the concert, it appears that number of people enjoyed the concert and somebody did not, what is new about that.
to be fair to guest cjb, he stated that he had difficulties getting tickets, that is a reasonable criticism, he stated that he did not like some of the introductions and did not like the folk rock aspect of parts of the concert, surely he is entitled to state that certain aspects of the concert were not to his taste[ without being called a bundle of laughs].
Vic Smith and robin denselow enjoyed the concert, although Robin appears to have got the name of a song wrong., the song is generally known as just as the tide was flowing, shirleys version has a fine tune but is in fact a fragment, there are more complete versions with a fuller storyline, but as shirley has explained the realative she learned this song from only ever sang fragments of songs, which in this particular case is a great pity. here is a complete version of the song with a different tune sung by a fine singer tony rosehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGVnwtYIvFc
