Hi, Glenn- I'm having a little trouble here, but I can tell you that Burl Ives recorded "The Lollipop Tree" in 1950. I didn't find earlier recordings, and my Burl Ives songbooks don't include the 'pop" songs he recorded. Along with comments about my love life above, you will find that the song was written by Joe Darion and George Kleinsinger. This sheet music is dated 1951, so it looks like 1950-51 is a good date. Ah...I found the copyright record. The recording may have come out in 1950, but the song was registered with the U.S. Copyright Office on 27 March 1951. Publisher was M. Witmark & Sons, New York. Music by George Kleinsinger, lyrics by Joe Darion. -Joe-
