Advancing a long term doll project: The Dolls: These are two 2nd-grader-height, Raggedy Ann type dolls bought for AR work. A pale one and a dark one. (Right now they're in jeans and hoodies, a la Trayvon Martin.) Some time after the Celebration Circle this wknd, they're going to take up residence under the eaves, in the children's garden, on a bench, at a table, for hot chocolate. A third, empty chair will complete the 'booth.' (I'm hoping to recruit a doll mama at CC, to dress them for winter when it snows.) The planned location is lit at night. At the a Selinsgrove thrift emporium, I'd grabbed Halloween wigs. Both these dolls need hair and-- preferably-- CHANGEABLE hair. There were several construction styles among the wigs I got; I set each style on a lampshade and took a pic of each, right side out and inside out. One in particular is easily reproduced with cheap fabric and yarn; before I go back to PA I'll dummy up a fabric base to fit their odd head shapes, so that when I get back I can create a range of wigs and headpieces for seasonal/topical use. And mail them to myself here. Confident that by Halloween I can get them waterproofed, and having hair for them now, I used pinking shears to snip off the mob-cap edging they came with that would otherwise make wigging impossible. This added more crap to vacuum when I do the whole LR one cool night this week, so I left the vac out to nag me about it. But the dolls are now sharing a wicker settee, asking me to take their 'before' shots. They can come as they are to the CC-- the blond is wearing the blue yarn wig now. All the rest of their costume pieces are in their laps-- not sure which closet gets them yet. ~Susan
