GUEST,LynnH | BS: Steam loco question (31) | RE: BS: Steam loco question | 14 Oct 15 |
In 1948 the newly formed British Railways had to decide on the future colour schemes for rolling stock. To this end some locos were painted in green, others in blue and, following an exhibition at Marylebone for the BTC, the choice fell on green. The same process took place with coaches resulting in the 'plum and spilt milk' colour scheme. Don't ask me which locos served as 'models' for the colour scheme. |
