I remember many of the hymns taught in school (Church of England) 60+ years ago - and recall that, while I really liked many of the tunes, I thought most of the words unbelievably stupid and boring. Still do - like the tunes and dismiss the words. Tunes like "Bethany" ("Nearer My God To Thee") and "St. Clement" ("The Day Thou Gavest, Lord, Has Ended") are great tunes - and my particular favourite chord sequence is in "Melita" ("For Those In Peril On The Sea").
