New to us, at least. The phone rings at some inconvenient time. A female automated voice says "This call is for" (slight pause) "Richard Gibbs. If you are not Richard Gibbs, please hang up." Not being Richard Gibbs, I hang up. What's going on here? Are people named Richard Gibbs notoriously gullible, so the scammers don't want to waste their time with the rest of us? Are they trying to purify their database of phone numbers, eliminating all but the ones where someone actually answers? If so, why have they called my wife or me 8 to 10 times in the past three weeks? Is someone - a creditor perhaps - really trying to contact Mr. Gibbs? Again, why the repeated calls to me?
