Beaver:
I returned the griddle; it is "pre-seasoned" I researched this and found the explanation rather uncertain but the fact that the directions tell me not to use veg oil, only lard or shortening was the last straw.

A phone call to R, when he was at home and not mostly asleep, elicited the info that I have 4 cookie sheets and he is instructed to bring two with him. I was not aware there were four and think he might not have a clear idea of "cookie sheet". We shall see -when he gets here - whenever that may be.

In the meantime, I roasted sunflower seeds in two frying pans and the griddle (all cast iron) in the oven. Added a bit of curry powder for flavour. Did the remains of the chicken in the crock pot, cooled it, took out all the bones and have added red lentils and gold beets. Should be a nice lunch. ---for a couple days!

A couple inches of lovely soft snow yesterday; cars were coming down the hill very slowly. So I checked the road conditions before heading north - and bookmarked said page. Only our least travelled road was snowy. So safe trip up to LSP and back. A wonderful afternoon and evening amongst dear people at T&B's home. Tam and her Dad are friends since '77, others since '81. Lots of history and lots of love.

After a sumptuous meal, John played carols and then fiddle tunes, with daughter and granddaughter on guitars! I phoned R so he could listen to a bit of it. Filling one self with music by special people de-clutters the self of stress and negative feelings. None were possible in that ambiance. I never tried to count - but ages ranged from 3 months to 90!

I came home about 9 and de-cluttered the computer of emails. And the wood pile - filled the stove with lots of dry wood and got the house up to 60 before bed. Another grey day; heading toward 32F at the moment. Lots of traffic on this dead end road this am! Emailed the next door neighbour to see if she is here (lives in Toronto and Michigan), suggesting she phone or stop by; I do not want to intrude.

At the party, L gave me a pin cushion with several sewing needles so I can mend few things; she must have made it as it is a soft round ball with a lovely crocheted surround; 6 needles with eyes I can see! (I had asked for a needle. I have lots at the mill and did not want to purchase MORE! ) I broke down and bought a $4 iron at thrift shop - maybe I shall even de-clutter a shelf of some ironing! First wood and mending. Ah, I smell chicken soup!
