Here's my transcription.

There are a lot of phrases here that don't make sense to me; I'm hoping others will suggest corrections.

THE LAST SONG
As sung by Martyn Wyndham-Read & No Man's Band on "Oceans in the Sky" (2005)

I sang in golden autumn fields, sun will rise today.
I dreamed of stars that, shining down, were singing in another May.
I saw the white sail lower down in harbors made of dreams.
The mountain king forgot his crown where the snow's white shepherd gleams.

CHORUS: It may not be long, just a line or two.
If this should be the last song, it will be for you.

I wept for ev'ry star that fell, or silver wing laid down.
The songs unheard, once known so well, drew memories arise and groan.
Still buried deep within the soul is o'er the tinner's hand.
As much remains still yet to hear as ever graced this singing land. CHORUS

So if a wild persistent voice calls across the way,
Do not think a gift of choice is ever as to hold or say,
For sing we may and sing we must above this world of clay,
For music never turns to dust; harmony cannot decay. CHORUS
