And, to add anecdotes to confuse the issue, in March last year I was in Norway, up at the top, where the Sami were glad that the spring was coming early. The ice on the lakes on the Lofoten islands was just breaking up. In August, I was in eastern Iceland, where we were told that the summer was coming late, and the ice on the lakes was just breaking up. (To be truly scientific, I have to point out that the respective lakes were at low altitude on the Lofotens. and higher up on Iceland.) Same latitudes, totally different years' weather.
