I have fond memories of dancing with my year-old daughter to the sound of "Cracklin' Rosie" on the stereo. My daughter is 40 now. A lot of Neil's songs were good listening. I think his "African Trilogy" was a very thoughtful piece of music. It's on Tap Root Manuscript, which I think was his best album. No, I wouldn't call Neil a folk musician, but he certainly was an interesting and talented pop musician in his day. I went to one of his sold-out concerts in Sacramento back in the 1980s. He put on a great show. -Joe-
