My Dad's late 50s deluxe polished wooden cabinet radiogram was still his pride and joy, occupying a whole corner of the front room, until he bought his first hi fi stereo separates in the early 70s... It was either that or me and my sister's dansette, when I first started buying my own 45s around 1971ish... ... and we were still using that radiogram for playing 78s and scratched 2nd hand records until well into the 80s..... Probably the same set of military grade british valves working reliably for a good quarter century...??? [cant remember when or why he was forced to get rid of it...???] When I was a kid, I also used it to tune into police and emergency radio frequencies... sat up all night once with a mate, monitoring a local shotgun murder.
