"So that justifies the evil shit he was responsible for?" The point, I take it, was to help explain how a good guy can get locked into some bad ideas. Almost everyone who knew Scalia says he was a good guy to know, even when they shook their heads at his positions. The problem with his judicial philosophy was that it was VERY consistent internally. He had a clear and reasonable answer for everything he did....once you understood that he had 2-3 basic premises that, by themselves were NOT clear and obvious. This made him particularly dangerous... but not 'evil'.
