It was the same song, and can't say where I first heard it, probably on somebody's back porch in West Virginia, but had morphed into "Way down yonder in the Pawpaw Patch, met a little girl named Sassafras" and had been adapted to fiddle, banjo and bass such that we could do a square dance to it.
