GUEST,FloraG Accordion: How to play the bass side (34) RE: Accordion: How to play the bass side 07 Mar 16

An accordion is a really good anchor instrument in a session - unlike one of my fiddles which is really not loud enough to lead off. However my observations are;
.-some accordions are out of tune
- some accordions are bass heavy - so you end up with a growly type of noise - please check tuning and balance
My recommendations;
- cut the base every repeat - play more interesting notes on the melody side
- do not join in if there is another accordion playing unless your purpose is to learn the tune or add something different from the first accordion
-if leading a tune play the melody first - so the people sitting on the bass side can hear it
