I have a compilation CD of cold-war-themed bluegrass, old-time, blues and early RnB songs somewhere. It's hugely enjoyable. The contributions range from left-wing comedic parodies of McCarthyite paranoia to alarmingly right-wing celebrations of the nuclear bomb, and their worryingly earnest counterparts on the left singing the praises of Uncle Joe Stalin. At a safe distance, political extremes in popular song can be enjoyed as non-PC kitsch and there's nothing wrong with that.
