Freaks in the Peaks are a Border Morris side that meet up every 10-12 weeks for a weekend of Morris and ceilidh dancing, music, song....and fun! The format of the weekend is quite simple: a hall is hired for the weekend that serves as a venue for teaching / learning dances & tunes. It's also used for indoor camping and as a general base for the weekend. Friday night: Meet at the Spread Eagle pub in Lymm, Cheshire, for a bit of a sing, a play, a few beers and a damned good catch up. Indoor camping for those that want to. Saturday Morning: Dance and tune workshop Afternoon: Pedestrian tour of pubs and other dance venues around the village. Evening: Communal meal followed be a ceilidh / morris dance. Sunday Morning: Walking tour of around 5 miles (in total) with plenty of dance stops / spots. Lunchtime: Er, lunch break. Afternoon: Continue the walking dance tour. Return to base to clear up and go home by around 4pm. All jolly good fun! Details are on the Freaks website More info on my blog Photos of part of the Sunday Walk route So there you have it! Please come along if you're half interested. It's a very cheap weekend, a huge amount of fun.....and a terrific learning experience.
