As for pits of desolation, blame Little Hawk, who brought it up a few posts before my scientific analysis.

We had a glorious party this afternoon, t celebrate a friends jour de naissance. Wine flowed, music played, laughter rang on every hand. It just went on and on. Then we washed all the dishes with the birthday boy, and cleaned everything up. It was grand, I tell you. Mom would have loved it, but she couldn't come, as she was busy trying to discipline Rapparree for having a garbage mouth.
