At least in my day, they were not considered officers, regardless of the title. Warrant officers were considered officers. THey could not use the officer's club. Do not think that officers did not die. In the Vietnam war they died and died. We went to a dance at Ft. Benning and they told us to be nice to our assigned dates..half of them would not be coming back. Helicopter pilots..dead. Infantry officers..dead. Others..dead. dead. dead.
