Hugh McDonald, singer, songwriter, musician and a member of Australian band Redgum, has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 62, passing away yesterday, 19th November. Hugh was the co-vocalist and violinist for the politically charged band, with John Schumann, Michael Atkinson and Verity Truman. As a songwriter Hugh is probably best known for the song "The Diamantina Drover", which has become an Australian classic among folk singers here and overseas (e.g. Christy Moore) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_McDonald_(Australian_musician) RIP, Hugh.
