I once drove 1200 miles and back with an old guy of 88 (in his car) to a meeting. About half-way there we smelled something odd... seemed to be smokey. Stopped & opened the trunk (boot) and one of his extra blankets was smouldering where it had pressed up against the light bulb of one of the tail lights. Right beside the blanket was a can with about a gallon of gasoline. He 'liked' to have emergency fuel along... just in case. I helped rearrange everything so that I was 97.294% sure it would be ok. I'm still here......
