Speaking of tumblers, did you know that the reason large drinking vessels with no handles are called "tumblers" is because they were originally made with rounded bottoms? They were used in pubs and the rounded bottoms were meant to discourage nursing of drinks. If you can't set your pint on the bar, you're going to drink it up and either order another or leave and give your spot to someone else. |
